Our friends at Musical Theater Educators’ Alliance (MTEA) are launching a brand-new database aimed at connecting theatermakers with their network of universities, conservatories, and training programs around the world!
The goal for the New Works Collaboration Catalog is to provide a mutually-beneficial resource for theatermakers looking for development opportunities (or a production) and for educational institutions who are looking to produce new works with their students.

Who is this submission opportunity for?
Any musical theater writers who have new works to share.
What types of works can I submit?
- Book musical (full-length or one-act)
- Jukebox/Bio-musical
- Musical short (10-15 minutes)
- Musical TV/Web Series
- Opera (full-length)
- Opera (one-act)
- Podcast musical/Audio drama
- Revue
- Song cycle
- Sung-through musical (full-length or one-act)
Am I limited to the length of my musical?
No! In your submission application, you’ll be asked to select the duration of your musical but there’s no restriction.
What materials need to be submitted?
- 3 demo songs (MP3s)
- 20-30 consecutive pages of libretto
- Cast breakdown w/ vocal ranges
- Synopsis of musical work
- Bios for writers and creators
- Developmental history
What is MTEA?
MTEA stands for Musical Theater Educators’ Alliance and is made up of teachers of young professional artists to come together and exchange ideas, methodologies, and solutions to common challenges in academic settings of universities, conservatories, and training programs. Who sees my material?
Once reviewed and confirmed by the MTEA committee, your musical(s) will be included in a database for MTEA members. From there, members can review the database when they’re looking for new works to use in the classroom or in production. Members would contact you directly for either more information, additional resources, questions, or collaboration.
How do I apply?
You can submit the details of your musical works via an online questionnaire for inclusion in the New Works Collaboration Catalog. Click here to apply.
